He believes it’s the fastest cure for heartburn…Lady Doctor Nutrition

He’d also tell you it’s a great cure for asthma, migraine headaches and major pains of the body…

And if you’re thinking it’s one complex pill or medication that’ll cost you a bundle then it’s not. It’s so simple most people overlook it. Better yet, it’s actually free.

What is it?

How does it work?

Well, I’ve just came across an interesting interview with this very same Doctor which can open your eyes and have you reconsider your daily nutrition. Like I said, it’s free… all you have to do is appreciate the concept in spite of its simplicity and take some action.

I’ll give you a link to that interview in a moment, but first here’s how Dr B. first came across this concept…

It all started in an Iranian prison in the early 80’s. You don’t normally expect people to make remarkable discoveries while held in captivity, but not this physician (let’s call him Dr. B. for now).

One late night he was faced with a patient suffering unbearable ulcer pain. The man was literally on the floor groaning “My ulcer is killing me.”

With hardly any medication at hand, Dr. B. prescribed 2 glasses of his now ‘simple cure’. Dr. B. said, “Within three minutes his pain diminished and within eight minutes it disappeared completely”

He was so impressed with the way his ‘simple cure’ helped clear the ulcer attack during the patient’s few months in prison. Dr. B. later tweaked the treatment and watched it come into use throughout prison as its effectiveness became evident.

Long story short, Dr. B. managed to examine about 3,000 patients and monitor the medical fate of more than 600.

Dr. B. has since presented his findings in international conferences and major journals.

He sums it up by saying: “When I discovered that the solution to most of the pain and disease conditions of our society is not a money-maker so no one is interested in it, then I decided to go public and take my information to the public. That’s why I’ve written my book.”

Instead of telling you about this ‘simple cure’ right here I feel it’s best if you check out this insightful interview with Dr. B. He runs through:

  • A simple cure for heart burn
  • How to wash out the toxic chemical waste build up in your body
  • How your body shut down the breathing process and have you experience asthma
  • Why this ‘simple cure’ is hardly main stream… and… why the drug companies will hardly tell you about it (hint: it doesn’t sell!)
  • Why your nose begins to water and wash the pollen out – and how this relate to allergies.
  • Why Table salt is not good is not a good option, plus a simple alternative and how much of it is optimal for your health.
  • Fighting Osteoporosis by taking calcium supplements? It’s useless unless you drink plenty of this ‘simple cure’.
  • And much more…

Once you start reading this interview Stop Thinking “This is too good to be true”.

Get Over the “I already know this” feeling and instead gain a new appreciate for the power of this ‘simple cure’ (better yet, why not pick up one simple tip and starting applying it today).

Hope you find this interesting, would love to hear your thoughts.

M. Jamal

It’s rather inspiring to hear about everyday people with real lives making a difference and getting closer to their dream bodies. So when I saw this post by Traci talking about “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” of her recent ‘Healthier Lifestyle’ goals I had to tell you about it.

She voices her thoughts in 22 points that sum up her experience since starting what she calls “The Big D” on Valentie’s Day.

It definitely touches with how many women feel, one poster said:

“I think you put into words what so many of us moms feel every day.”

And another one said…

“Good for you-for voicing what most women think and for having a healthier life style.”

I’d suggest taking a moment to check it out (surely let me know if it does touch base with you’re experience so far).

But first, I’d like to run through 3 concepts that Traci explained briefly…

  1. Healthy Food Feels Better:

Traci says, “I have discovered healthy snacks that I love and actually, truly do prefer over the crap I was eating nonstop before.”Surely there’s no one nutrition menu that fits all, so it helps to experiment and find out what fires your taste buds and nourishes your body.

One week, I’m trying Sprouts… next week it’s Baby Carrots… then it’s Asparagus (all this in an attempt to add some flavor to my lunch).

    Yet here’s the big one…

When most people think of ‘healthy food’ they usually assume it’s boring and doesn’t feel right. This is especially true if they’re big on takeout.

But, if you give it a chance… and replace just one meal or snack with a healthy choice… and keep at if for 2 weeks… you’re body’s natural tendencies will shift in remarkable ways.

Here’s an example, replace Pepsi/Coke with water or lemon juice for 2 weeks.

After that, Pepsi won’t taste the same. In fact, after doing this years ago I remember how awful it tasted… it shocked my system and I wasn’t so hung up on it anymore (or as Traci puts it “the burn that I thought I lived for was decidely less than thrilling and the taste was bleh”).

Another example could be having raisins instead of cookies or sweets. This can really fill up your sugar craving in a good way.

Have you experienced something like this before?

(I’m not talking about perfection here, just a simple shift in perspective and realizing how we’re so hung up on many food choices which aren’t necessarily as good as we’d like to think).

  2. Next, in point 3 Traci talks about the ‘taken for granted nutrient’…Water:
    Woman Drinking Water In Gym
“And speaking of the water consumption, I think I am fully hydrated for the first time in my whole life.

    Sounds obvious?

    Sounds simple to do?

Then, how come I see way too many people skipping this simple concept everyday!

I hope you’re having plenty of water.

I won’t try to entice you by listing all kinds of benefits here… just try this for a week and tell me how different you feel: Don’t wait until you feel thirsty (you’re already dehydrated when you feel thirsty!)… try to have a glass of water every 2 hours or so.

It’s not a race to drink up 13 glasses of water a day, make it a gradual shift… and, soon enough, you’ll find yourself drinking water without waiting to be thirsty.

Here’s 2 more points worth keeping in mind:

    • Your ‘thirst mechanism’ becomes less sensitive if you’re not getting enough water.
    • It’s said that even MILD dehydration can slow down your metabolism as much as 3% (on the flip side, water can actually help suppress your appetite)
  3. “I’ve really started thinking and feeling that it’s much too early in my life to feel frumpy and tired, which I have for the last five or so years.”

I guess this one’s big because way too many magazines focus on the aesthetics of exercising and eating well.

That’s not fair, there’s a major difference in the way you feel… your energy level, how you perform everyday tasks even your confidence level shoots up as you get a healthy dose of exercise and great nutrition. So go for it and feel your best.

Listen, I just went through 3 items of the 22 that Traci covers in her blog post.

It’s worth taking a minute to check it out here.

M. Jamalfemale body type report

P.S. Another interesting comment by Traci:

“In high school I thought I was one of the “big” girls. I wore big clothes because I couldn’t look the way I was supposed to in the stylish clothes. I’ve since realized that I was curvy. Big difference. I have boobs and a butt. That is not going to change.”

That’s the core idea behind my report “What’s Your Body Type And How To Train To Get That Shapely Physique”. So if you haven’t downloaded your free copy already you can do that in less than a minute by going here.

How I accidentally stumbled upon an interesting example that illustrates the “New Way To Look At Exercise” concept…

If you’ve checked out my previous blog post titeld “5 ‘Fit Steps’ To Getting The Most Out Of 2008” you would’ve came across what I call “A New Way To Look At Exercise”
Man-Jumps-Rock-For-Fitness
It’s a mental shift towards enjoying your workouts and starting to look forward to moving your body.

Well, about two days ago, while researching the top New Year’s resolutions… I stumbled upon an interesting comment by a man called Richard Waddell that caught my attention, it said:

“The one resolution I ever kept was not for
New Year’s and it inadvertently helped me
to end up being fit at 60.”

Interestingly, it turns out that resolution came about because Richard has always preferred being sedentary.

The guy Rode a bike for over 20 years!

Strangely, he claims that he skipped more days than he rode because he hated it so much at first (typical for so many people trying to go from total sedentary to a fitness overhaul).

What’s interesting is that Richard started riding more consistently as he focused on the benefits, the mood change and elevated energy immediately after the workout.

The next phase is when he discovered how exercise allowed him to “zone out” mentally (this one is major for me, and if you’re often stressed from work you ought to have a feel for this next time you exercise. Simply block out everything other than working out for 40, 50 or 60 minutes when your at the gym or outdoors)

In his own words:

“And after a few months you develop the ability to “zone out”

so you can think, listen to music, or daydream and only be

peripherally aware of the physical effort.”

(Have you experienced that during a workout? I find it comes easy when there isn’t many people around at the gym… or when your outdoors and looking far ahead, kind of ‘lost in the moment’)

Richard also mentions something which is often overlooked; visualization. (I touched on this concept in October’s post, “4 Keys to Mental Focus in Physical Training”)

His example may seem a bit weird at first, yet sometimes it’s good to illustrate a point with extreme examples:

“The pedalling is pumping the music into your body; it sweeps

through your system, refreshing the cells and taking the toxins with it.

It exits through your feet; the toxins dissipate and the

cleansed energy goes back into re-inforcing the whole cycle.”

OK, so you’ve got the mental picture of this guy’s journey… now what about his “Rock Jump” technique?Fit Woman with Jump Rope

Well, it turns out Richard was pretty bored with the usual rope skipping so he tweaked it into a more interesting version he calls “Jump Rock”.

It’s worth a look if for no other reason to convince yourself that “You too can be creative, add bits to your workouts or variations to make them MORE FUN”

Here’s what Richard says about it at age 60:

“I believe I’ve developed more stamina
and added more muscle in the last two years
than I should be able to at my age.

I believe that’s because I actually enjoy JumpRock so I do it as much as I can…

It’s worth checking out the video demonstration of JumpRock at this link (give it a few seconds to load).

Hope this inspires you to enjoy your next workout.

Even more, hope you picked up some mental tactics to experiment with, the kind that’ll generate momentum to make 2008 a great year towards achieving your fitness goals and a great figure.

To making a noticeable difference in 2008,

M. Jamal

P.S. Would love to hear your thoughts on this and how you’re planning to add momentum to your fitness plans for 2008.

Charlize Theron is Esquire magazine’s “Sexiest Woman Alive”… stunning Jessica Alba got voted “Sexiest Woman In The World” (by FHM)… gorgeous Beyonce topped People magazine’s “Best-dressed Celebrities” list… while lovely Jennifer Aniston tops Forbe.com’s “Top-selling Famous Faces”

We all secretly have some kind of fascination with celebrities…woman workout motivation

…Their good looks… their toned figures and youthful appearance… yet… are we using this as motivation to pull us towards our desired, toned body or is it pushing us further away?

There’s no doubt setting an image, a goal of the kind of body and look you’d like to get close to, can be a powerful motivator when used in a positive way.

(I’m talking about a motivation tool rather than an obsession that causes some women to overshoot their weight loss goals or develop some kind of eating disorder because they want to look like catwalk models)

This is a very interesting topic because on the one hand it can motivate you to take action, move, eat better and see your body shaping up… while, on the other hand, it can cause some to be put off thinking “it’s too hard, only celebrities and models can look so good”!

Personally, I try to select an image that inspires me… something realistic rather than perfect… and get moving, eating better and monitoring my progress.

How about you?

Where does this whole issue fit into your ‘fitness mindest’? Do you have any favorite celebrities or atheletes you consider as role models?

M. Jamal

Have you ever noticed how you instinctively rub your temples with your fingers whenever you feel a headache coming on?

This is because massaging an aching part of the body has long been practiced in ancient societies. In fact, Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, defined Medicine in 400 B.C. as “the art of rubbing.”

Massage therapy is enjoying a comeback these days, having been reintroduced as a form of alternative therapy. For athletes who train or exercisers who simply need to repair overused muscles, massage is a must to help them recover.

A study made by Cornell University, published in 2003 in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, found that a 20-minute massage after a session of vigorous exercises helps relieve sore muscles after two days.lady massage

What is the implication of their findings?

Muscle soreness is used by athletes to guide them in their training regimens. Many of them train by undergoing extremely strenuous workouts which injure the muscles as they are overused. What happens is that when their muscles feel sore the next day and the succeeding days, they only take light workouts until the soreness is gone.

A massage helps athletes build stronger muscles because they can take more frequent workouts with consistent intensity.

Even the iconic Madonna succumbs to a 3-hour Shiatsu massage session every week to relieve muscle strain – the price she pays for a very punishing exercise regimen.

Madonna is not the only celebrity to take advantage of massage’s soothing effects. Supermodel Claudia Schiffer goes through a cellulite treatment involving mechanical rollers which massage affected areas to excrete toxins and enhance lymphatic drainage.

Actress Keira Knightley is a devotee of tailor-made massage treatments for the face and the body, said to reduce puffiness and enhance skin glow.

Cat Deeley, a former model and now a popular DJ, swears by stomach massage and reflexology to eliminate harmful toxins from her body and give her a svelte shape.

The following are a few of the amazing findings associated with the unparalleled benefits of massage:

  • It has been found to produce a decrease in depression and anxiety among bulimic females. Significant decreases in urinary and salivary cortisol suggested that massage played a marked role in the reduction of stress.
  • Massage therapy studies made by Tiffany Field of the Touch Research Institute showed enhanced immune functions, increased alertness, growth facilitation, and significant weight gain in babies who were stroked with pressure;
  • Eases cramps due to the onset of the menses. This is specifically important for ladies who do not want their exercise routines to be hampered by painful periods. A massage of the area just above the pubic bone easily relieves cramping and prepares you for your scheduled exercise routines.

M. Jamal

P.S. You know what, my favorite part of massage is the feeling that you’ve got a ‘New Body’ when you wake up the next day (well, it kind’a feels like that… especially if your body is sore from all those workouts).

So… have you tried a massage lately? What kind of massage and did you feel it was worth it? (hit ‘comment’ and let us know)

lady fitness swim London, September of 1991…

One man undergoes 6 brain operations and spends 40 days in a comma. This man was an elite athlete… yet shortly after he left the hospital half paralyzed and unable to walk. 12 years later (2003) he walks the second largest marathon in the world (the London marathon) completing the 26.2 miles in 6 days.

Such spirit and iron determination belongs to former British boxer Michael Watson. (You can see his message here).

Days ago… on the other side of the Atlantic — Peru

A 52 year old Slovenian man braves crocodiles, flesh eating piranhas, small fish that can creep into your body and cause all kinds of damage… (plus some more)… to become the first man to swim the entire length of the Amazon! That’s a whopping 3,375 miles (5,400km) marathon swim from Peru to Brazil.

This incredible man is marathon swimmer Martin Strel. (You can learn more about this incredible challenge here, and check out this video).

Whether you like boxing or you don’t… whether you’re into swimming or not… I hope these real-world examples of courage, elite fitness and exceptional-determination can inspire you to put you’re excuses (and setbacks) aside and fuel your motivation to achieve your goals (yep, that includes your dream figure and leading a healthy life).

To your success,

M. Jamal

P.S. Is there a particular event or real world storey that truly inspires you to get off the couch and blast into your fitness routine?

Celebrity lady fitness

Have you ever wondered how the most gorgeous celebrities maintain their to-die-for shapes?

Yes, there are a handful who take the “easy (but not exactly safe) way out” with surgical procedures, but a great majority of them actually work on their bodies. Here is a peek at some of these famous women’s cardio routines:

Jessica Simpson and Heidi Klum. Both beauties
performed intensive cardio and strength training.

Jessica worked her way to a more shapely butt which she needed in the filming of “Dukes of Hazzard” while supermodel Heidi had to shed off the fat she gained after giving birth so that she could show off her curves for a Victoria’s Secret modeling stint.

Angelina Jolie. Before the filming of “Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life,” where she performed a lot of stunts herself, Angelina took on a specially-designed regimen that included kickboxing, wall climbing, bungee ballet, and scuba diving.

Thalia Sodi. This voluptuous Mexican singer/actress wall-climbs to achieve a firm gluteus. This activity is very demanding and firms up unsightly flabs in your limbs. She also does yoga.

Oprah Winfrey. We’ve seen her weight yo-yo through the years – from unhealthy-looking obesity to an alarming thinness. Today she has found her middle ground, and certainly looks like the millions of dollars she’s actually worth! Oprah follows a strict diet and exercise regimen: six days of cardio and six days of strength training, plus outdoor activities on Sundays.

“Friends” co-stars Courtney Cox and Jennifer Anniston. These charming gals practice a mix of martial arts and yoga to achieve those enviable bodies we see on TV.

Jessica Alba. One of the “most searched” on the Internet and currently also a top-grosser in poster sales, this star of the blockbuster movie “The Fantastic Four” used to have big self-image issues, coming from a heavily overweight family.

She has admitted to having an eating disorder years back, but is now on the right track with a daily 45-60 minute workout routine. She starts out by working the elliptical machine or the treadmill for 10 to 15 minutes until her heart rate goes up to about 180 bpm. This is followed by 50 crunches and lunges, before she returns to the machine for an additional 10 minutes.

Meg Ryan, Julianne Moore, and Reese Witherspoon. They all follow a strict diet plus a combination of 6 days of cardio and 5 days of weight training.

Jennifer Lopez. Aside from a clean lifestyle (she neither smokes nor drinks), this sultry singer/actress maintains her “legendary backside” with this routine: On a power treadmill, reach the speed you regularly work with after a brief warm-up.

Next, begin to increase the incline one grade at a time until you reach that point where you feel uncomfortable. Afterwards, do the reverse and start descending one grade at a time. Devote about 20 minutes for an entire cycle to tone your muscles and burn a considerable amount of calories.

Although they do their cardio year-round, celebrities work doubly hard in the weeks leading up to a special event, such as the Oscars, as it’s the most anticipated season of “showing the world what you’ve got.”

You, too, can use their techniques if you’re gearing up for a wedding, an awards night, or a class reunion! Simply follow these steps:

  1. About 2 weeks prior to the event, increase your exercise duration (add about 15 minutes per session), intensity (go up the levels when using machines), and frequency (do your cardio at least 5-6 times a week).
  2. One week before the event, pay special attention to your diet. Cut down on alcohol, salt, and sugar to help you look and feel lean. Doing so will also provide you with that much-needed energy for your more intensive workouts.
  3. The day before the event, take in only complex carbs and lean protein. Don’t consume too much fruit and vegetables to keep from feeling gassy and bloated.
  4. On the day itself, it won’t hurt to take a brisk walk for about 30-45 minutes. It would be better to walk along a hilly trail to tighten your legs and burn more calories.

When you do your cardio daily, having a celebrity body will only be icing on the cake. The most important thing is that as your heart, lungs, and muscles improve their performance, you’ll inevitably feel good about yourself.

M. Jamal
