He believes it’s the fastest cure for heartburn…Lady Doctor Nutrition

He’d also tell you it’s a great cure for asthma, migraine headaches and major pains of the body…

And if you’re thinking it’s one complex pill or medication that’ll cost you a bundle then it’s not. It’s so simple most people overlook it. Better yet, it’s actually free.

What is it?

How does it work?

Well, I’ve just came across an interesting interview with this very same Doctor which can open your eyes and have you reconsider your daily nutrition. Like I said, it’s free… all you have to do is appreciate the concept in spite of its simplicity and take some action.

I’ll give you a link to that interview in a moment, but first here’s how Dr B. first came across this concept…

It all started in an Iranian prison in the early 80’s. You don’t normally expect people to make remarkable discoveries while held in captivity, but not this physician (let’s call him Dr. B. for now).

One late night he was faced with a patient suffering unbearable ulcer pain. The man was literally on the floor groaning “My ulcer is killing me.”

With hardly any medication at hand, Dr. B. prescribed 2 glasses of his now ‘simple cure’. Dr. B. said, “Within three minutes his pain diminished and within eight minutes it disappeared completely”

He was so impressed with the way his ‘simple cure’ helped clear the ulcer attack during the patient’s few months in prison. Dr. B. later tweaked the treatment and watched it come into use throughout prison as its effectiveness became evident.

Long story short, Dr. B. managed to examine about 3,000 patients and monitor the medical fate of more than 600.

Dr. B. has since presented his findings in international conferences and major journals.

He sums it up by saying: “When I discovered that the solution to most of the pain and disease conditions of our society is not a money-maker so no one is interested in it, then I decided to go public and take my information to the public. That’s why I’ve written my book.”

Instead of telling you about this ‘simple cure’ right here I feel it’s best if you check out this insightful interview with Dr. B. He runs through:

  • A simple cure for heart burn
  • How to wash out the toxic chemical waste build up in your body
  • How your body shut down the breathing process and have you experience asthma
  • Why this ‘simple cure’ is hardly main stream… and… why the drug companies will hardly tell you about it (hint: it doesn’t sell!)
  • Why your nose begins to water and wash the pollen out – and how this relate to allergies.
  • Why Table salt is not good is not a good option, plus a simple alternative and how much of it is optimal for your health.
  • Fighting Osteoporosis by taking calcium supplements? It’s useless unless you drink plenty of this ‘simple cure’.
  • And much more…

Once you start reading this interview Stop Thinking “This is too good to be true”.

Get Over the “I already know this” feeling and instead gain a new appreciate for the power of this ‘simple cure’ (better yet, why not pick up one simple tip and starting applying it today).

The principle behind a sauna’s therapeutic benefits is based on the belief that our mothers held when treating our fevers in the past.

Many of them wrapped us in thick blankets to induce heavy sweating and to release the toxins from the body, helping us to feel much better right after the unconventional practice.

When one sits in a sauna, the body is tricked into thinking that it is experiencing a fever, speeding up the production of white blood cells.

What happens to your body when you’re in a sauna?Woman in Sauna

The skin temperature is increased by about 3 degrees Centigrade, simulating a fever and possibly killing bacteria, viruses, and toxins inside the body.

During your time inside a sauna, you will be breaking out into a sweat.

As this happens, your body will require a larger amount of oxygen.

This sets off a chain of events, such as creating a demand for the lungs to work harder and thus expel more toxins. Other organs react similarly, that is, working overtime and squeezing out more poisonous substances through sweat.

A good side effect is that the skin, which is incidentally the body’s largest organ – also gets a tune up as we perspire. Just as an automobile becomes less efficient when not in use, so too will our skin.

Your heart rate increases even as you’re only sitting down, and your circulation improves as well.

Lactic acid, formed during workouts, is also expelled during a sauna session.

This is why it’s advisable to have a sauna treatment after a heavy workout – but only after an adequate rest period and a cold shower.

It is also said that a sauna treatment aids in the production of interferon in your body.

This is a protein which is known for its anticarcinogenic properties.

Did you know that in Europe, clients are made to have a sauna session prior to a body massage at spas?

This is because a sauna treatment prepares the body muscles by loosening and relaxing them, making them more receptive to kneading and massaging.

In the U.S., on the other hand, the sequence is reversed.

The massage is normally administered first, followed by a sauna treatment to eliminate the toxins that have been freed with the massage treatment.

“Can I Lose Weight With A Sauna Treatment?”
Sauna and Weight Loss!
First, a sauna or a steam bath is not a recommended method for weight loss. If it were, we’d probably see less people in the gym and more in saunas.

Most, if not all, individuals want a loss of body fat, but the fact is that water is primarily what’s lost during a sauna session.

You become extremely thirsty after coming out of the steam room because of the fluid loss through perspiration.

When you take water after the session, whatever weight you lost will be regained.

When you take a high-calorie drink instead of water, however, you may even end up gaining fat because of that drink’s caloric content. This shows you that the weight loss after a sauna treatment is merely a temporary loss.

Saunas are more beneficial in detoxifying the body than in losing weight.

It is also great for giving the cardiovascular system a workout and for improving blood circulation.

However, you can only stay in the sauna room for so long as there is danger of dehydration and of overstraining the heart.

New technologies are being introduced to enable you to enjoy a sauna for longer than 20 minutes, such as the infrared sauna.

Here, the heat is able to reach into the body much deeper and you can thus get a good cleansing sweat at only 120 degrees, as opposed to traditional saunas where a temperature of 180 degrees has to be reached before results can be seen.

It seems like a natural follow up to last week’s post “5 Myths About Weight Loss”

I’m about to share with you an interesting video clip that goes behind the scenes of the weight loss industry. You’ll hear about:

  • The 19th century Belgian mathematician formula used by the government. This same formula actually marks Russell Crowe and George Clooney as obese!
  • Fat people who Exercise Regularly vs. Thin People Who Don’t; who’s better off?
  • When big, fat doesn’t automatically translate to unhealthy!

Some intriguing insights that ought to shift you from a ‘weight loss’ perspective into a ‘lifestyle’ change perspective.

Here’s the video. Would love to hear your thoughts on this one.

Have a great day,

O'neill mp3 compatible vestI’m browsing a wakeboarding magazine as I spot a life jacket (or vest) with built-in mp3 capability. Simply plug in your mp3… your favorite tunes… and hop off the boat.

So I wonder, where are Sportswear in-built gadgets going?

I mean in 2005, Adidas released “intelligent cushioning”.

Call it intelligent clothing; the sports shoe (adidas_1) senses the cushioning level on every step, determines whether its too soft or too firm, then adapts itself to provide the right level of cushioning.

Or how about Nike capitalizing on iPod’s explosion by introducing its “Nike+ Air Zoom Moire” in 2006 (You’ve probably seen these around).

It’s essentially footwear that’s designed to talk to your iPod while you run… so you keep track of your time, distance, calories burned and pace which are stored on your iPod, displayed on the screen and even played through its headphones.

And… while we’re talking iPod…

How about a washable, water-resistant iPod remote control?

iPod Remote control for outdoor sports

We’re talking outdoor sports where you wish to keep your iPod protected yet listen to your favorite tunes. It’s a flexible armband wireless remote for your iPod (SportCommand by Belkin).

Plus other examples such as NuMetrex™ introducing those Heart Rate Monitoring Sports Bras a few years ago.

With sensors knitted directly into the fabric giving it extra comfort – and the new sleeveless tank top looking even more fashionable.

What can you expect next?

How about standing in front of a mirror and running through a variety of sports shoes, different colors, different models… without changing your own shoes?

That’s what adidas has done with its “mi innovation center” in France found at Avenue des Champs Elysees. In effect, your stand in front of a virtual mirror… point out the adidas model you wish to try on a computer screen… and have the mirror display your feet in the chosen shoe model!

Would that save you trying dozens of shoes at a time?

(It’ll probably speed up deciding on color and look… yet, personally, I gott’a wear and feel my sport shoes before buying)

Here’s another one…

How about seeing your heart rate every time you wear your sports sunglasses for an extra 7 grams?

That’s what one German company (Rodenstock) is developing for release in 2009. The idea is to display stopwatch and heart rate data on the left edge of the lens while taking up minimum space from the left eye’s field of view. (see here)

Plus you’ve got alarm clocks that’ll monitor your sleep cycle and save you those bad groggy mornings… and clothes (Nano Dew) with vitamin E and special enzymes that’ll give you an anti-aging effect.

Out of all this… what hi-tech sportswear excites you the most? What do you find missing (or wish could be invented over the coming years)?

M. Jamal

P.S. Check out this video to get an idea about the adidas “mi innovation center” in Paris.

Chocolate has been a guilty pleasure we all secretly indulged in ever since we were kids, when we were constantly warned of its nasty effects on our teeth.

Growing up, our parents said it was a sure-fire formula for hyperactivity and sleeplessness, until adolescence came along and we stayed off it days before prom night because it was definitely a recipe for acne disaster.

Despite all the stop signs, we just can’t get enough of it.

Chocolate seems to be the tamest of all secret pleasures because it gives us comfort yet it does no harm to others.

But does it really do harm to your body?

Death By Chocolate
woman eating chocolate
This dessert name says it all, but don’t worry – it’s merely a marketing ploy purported by the restaurant chain Bennigan’s to entice diners to partake of something that “tastes so good that it can possibly be dangerous.”

In reality, it isn’t true that chocolate can cause cavities and tooth decay if the teeth are properly brushed and flossed; nor cause hyperactivity, as an ounce of milk chocolate only has 5 mg of caffeine, compared to an average cup of coffee’s 100-150 mg; and neither can it cause acne on its own merits.

It’s not even addictive, at least not in the sense that alcohol, nicotine, or other drugs are. On the contrary – studies on the health benefits of chocolate are providing encouraging results.

How Chocolate Can Actually Be Good For You

Having something that tastes so good and is at the same time beneficial for our health is simply too much. Is it at all possible?

Researchers at Harvard recently tested the effects of cocoa – chocolate’s base – on 136 participants, and they found that the substance improved blood flow, lowered bad cholesterol, and decreased platelet stickiness.

When this stickiness is reduced, the clotting that causes heart attacks and strokes is minimized.

The flavonoids in cocoa were found to be responsible for these results, as they seemed to prevent cell inflammation and damage.

Hypertension is also alleviated by eating 3.5 oz of dark chocolate daily, says Dr. Blumberg of Tufts University.

Chocolate contains antioxidants that block chemical changes in bad LDL cholesterol that cause clogged arteries. In fact, it was found that chocolate performed better than Vitamin C as an antioxidant and at detoxifying LDLs.

No significant effects were detected on those who ate white chocolate, however.

The most plausible explanation for these results was that white chocolate doesn’t have any cocoa nor flavonoids in it.

And here’s a stunning counterargument to the age-old acne-and-chocolate theory: Three months of drinking half a cup of a flavonoid-enriched cocoa beverage gave two dozen women smoother and moister skin.

The German researchers who conducted the study believed that the flavonoids helped improve the blood flow to the skin, significantly giving it a healthier look.

Even chocolate milk has been found to assist recovery during a workout.

Athletes who drank this beverage in between their workouts were found to come up with better endurance and fatigue test scores than those who drank regular sports drinks.

The brain can also benefit from chocolate, according to researchers at the Wheeling Jesuit University. Due to an improved blood circulation to the brain, chocolate could actually improve problem-solving skills, memory, reaction time, and attention span.

Perhaps one of the most intensive studies on the potential benefits of chocolates is being conducted by the mammoth conglomerate Mars, Inc. In the 1990s, the confectionary giant suffered a major setback when its suppliers in Brazil were waylaid by a fungal crop infection.

Since then, Mars started spending on studies to determine cocoa beans’ chemical makeup and perhaps mimic its composition, just in case another similar catastrophe happened in the future.

It was a tall order, but along the way, the studies branched out into the development of functional cocoa – that is, cocoa used to make fortified foods that are good for the health.

At present, they are seriously working on a flavanol-rich cocoa that can be touted as a product with cardiovascular and cerebral benefits.

Given America’s worsening problem of childhood obesity, they’re a long way from turning chocolate around from being everyone’s secret indulgence to a type of functional food, but we’re all crossing our fingers.

A whopping 91 percent – that’s how many women, aged 18 to 60, were found to beWoman Clothes Shopping dissatisfied with their bodies, in a survey conducted at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

The body types we have now may change through the years, but because being an ectomorph, mesomorph, or endomorph may be due to genetic factors, there are some people who cannot alter their basic body shapes.

We can, however, reduce some flab, tone our muscles, or wear clothes that would be most flattering to our body types.

Clothes For Ectos

Ectomorphs generally have slim bodies, small bones and joints, shoulders and hips that are nearly the same width, less muscle mass, and find it difficult to gain weight.

They generally have long limbs in relation to their body and have an overall delicate build.

Pants and skirts that have gathers at the hip and the waist go well with narrow hips, to give the impression of a fuller lower part of the body.give the impression of a fuller lower part

Accessories can help focus the eyes and create illusions.

For instance, ectos who are long-waisted should use wider belts to make the waist look as if it’s more in proportion to the other parts of your body.

To break up the length of the torso, wear a top with a different color from pants or skirt color. Today’s trendy hip belts are also perfect for ectos, as they make the hips seem wider than they really are.

Those with small bustlines should wear shirts with breast pockets, or blouses with tucks or gathers at the breast area to accent their chests. It would be a good idea to look into Maximizer™ bras that have special pads inside the cups to give small breasts a “lift.”

What Should Mesos Avoid Wearing?

Large bones and broad shoulders characterize the mesomorphic body type. They generally have well-defined shoulders and chests, with widths greater than their waistlines.

Mesos have shoulders and hips that are approximately of the same width, and they enjoy taut stomachs. Mesos store fat evenly all over their bodies, which fortunately gives them good proportions. To top it all of, their body structure is very receptive to muscle mass gain.

Mesos normally can wear any type of outfit they want, although there are some areas they would want to downplay.

Those who do not want their shoulders to look too broad as to take away from their femininity must do away with shoulder pads. If you’re more of a meso, you could wear boot-cut pants or flare skirts which both provide a counterpoint to your shoulders.

While you would look fantastic in halter tops, strapless blouses and spaghetti straps are to be avoided, as well as pencil skirts which emphasize the “inverted triangle” body shape.

Fashion For Endos

A recent research published in the Clothing and Textiles Research Journal revealed that women with a lower body image tended to resort to greater body coverage with the use of clothes.

That is, the more uncomfortable a woman was with certain parts of her body, the more she tended to “cover them up” with layers of clothes.

What these women probably don’t know is that this technique makes them look even heavier. There are light clothes an endo could use that would not add unnecessary bulk yet would look flattering on her.

Endos should stay away from fills or any extra fabric that adds volume, as well as large prints and loud patterns. To elongate short waists, select narrow belts and wear same-colored tops and bottoms.

To downplay broad hips, go for straight skirts and trousers, preferably in dark, solid colors. Choose clothes made from fabrics that won’t add volume, such as gabardine or wool.

You could also wear a flowing pants-skirt, as long as it isn’t too tent-like.

Although full chests should be no cause for concern, there are some endos who feel conscious about it.

To make you feel like royalty, follow the tips given by the Queen’s corsetieres, Rigby & Peller of London. They claim that at least 50% of women wear the wrong bra size, and this can be quite devastating to the way we carry ourselves in our clothes.

A good support bra, for instance, should cup the breast and not bear on the flesh.

The front of the bra must be aligned with the back and a good fit should allow the bra to be worn on the first hooks.

If you want to divert attention away from or tone down your middle area, wear diagonal prints, shirts with ruching, and wrap tops. Mid-rise jeans are best for your body type, and so are boot-cut pants and flaring skirts.

Keep fit for a better-looking you

Regardless of your body type, the best way you could feel good about yourself is to engage in a body-toning exercise, whether it’s a thrice-a-week aerobic activity or spending a few minutes on the treadmill every evening. When you’re healthy, you’ll exude an extraordinary glow about you and you’ll gain more confidence in the way you carry yourself.
